In McLean Music Studio, my primary focus is to help my students be the very best musicians they can be. With solid technique, proficient note reading skills, ear training, improvisation, composition skills—and consistent practice—my students can play classics, as well as jazz, repertoire from Broadway musicals and the film industry. I enjoy guiding students to write their own compositions and learn to improvise. (Improvising is my favorite activity.) I ask my students to provide their own input towards the direction they go with their musical skill development. Ensemble work with other students is encouraged to every extent possible, because making music with others is the most fun ever!

I have taught piano, guitar and voice lessons in various parts of Montana and Wyoming for over 30 years. My students have achieved recognition in local, state and regional events, including first place in the Music Teachers National Association Senior Piano Competition. I have two Bachelor's degrees in music and elementary education from the University of Wyoming. I also draw from my experience with tour bands, choirs, and serving as music director for churches and public schools. I am a member of Helena Music Teachers Association, Montana Music Teachers Association, and Music Teachers National Association. I contribute to, and draw resources from those organizations, helping me stay fresh as a musician and teacher.
